In the mean time...

In the mean time, Nate and I have been visiting relatives and friends in various places. Below we were at Harsen's Island. It's in the north of Michigan so we got to canoe over the river to Canada. No illegal entry though - I got lost in the reeds.
Here are Nate's Aunty, Uncle and cousin. They showed us a great time in Chicago - including a broadway show, great Italian, home made key lime pie and a ferry tour in the pouring rain!
Checking out the massive buildings in Chicago.

We had an excellent time visiting a bunch of Nate's missionary friends at a wedding in Memphis. It was so refreshing to see them again. We had lots of laughs hearing about and sharing our own overseas experiences. Below, we ran out of gas, so instead of our home cooked pasta we got to experience downtown Memphis BBQ pork shoulder. Mmmmm

where is that green card?

The delay of the green card has enabled me to exprience a Michigan Autumn. The leaves are turning magnificent oranges and reds. One day I'm wrapped up in scarf and gloves, the next, it's singlet and shorts weather! Nate and I are developing a custom of drinking hot, spiced apple cider over the Scrabble board. Last weekend Nate and his sister, Sara, and her new hubby, Eric, introduced me to pumpkin carving. I'm the swirl and Nate's the evil eyes, of course.

As of today, October 18th, the green card could be anywhere from 3 to 12 months away! We were hoping to be back in Australia by now, but instead of just waiting around, Nate and I have decided take some steps towards long term overseas mission. We're going to enroll at bible college in the USA to start in Feb 2008. Not sure which one - maybe Golden Gate in San Francisco or Southern Baptist in Louisiana. Pray for wisdom for us!

If the green card comes through before American summer, we should be able to visit Aus around June/July next year...
